When to Go: A Month-by-Month Guide to Tanzania

Open savanna plains under wide sky

Tanzania rewards every month differently. The dry months of June through October thin the grass and concentrate game around permanent water — classic, reliable, photographic. The green months turn everything lush and quiet, with dramatic skies and newborn animals.

January to March belongs to the short-grass plains of the south, where wildebeest calve in their hundreds of thousands and predators follow. July to October draws the columns north toward the Mara River, where crossings are possible but never guaranteed — that honesty is part of the experience.

Your designer reads the season, your interests and your tolerance for early starts, then matches you to the region at its best. The right month matters far less than the right camp in the right place.
