The Great Migration
Two million animals. One moving target.
Endlessness, with teeth.
The Serengeti is not scenery; it is scale. Fifteen thousand square kilometres of grassland where movement never stops and every horizon promises something.
We design private Serengeti journeys that follow light and season rather than itineraries: mornings with a lion pride while the plains are still cool, afternoons on a kopje watching elephant lines cross the dust, nights in camps chosen for location first.
Camp placement tuned to the migration’s seasonal circuit, so the plains come to you instead of the reverse.
Full-day private guiding means you stay with a sighting as long as it deserves — no convoy, no schedule.
Tanzanian guides who read the grass, the vultures and the radio silence.
Lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and roughly two million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle on their annual circuit — one of the largest overland migrations on Earth.
Wildlife is strong year-round. The wildebeest calving season peaks on the southern short-grass plains around January–March; river crossings in the north typically build from July to October. Exact timing shifts with the rains — we track it weekly.
Herds are on the southern plains around December–April for calving, and cross the Mara River in the north typically between July and October. Because rainfall drives the movement, we plan around current conditions rather than fixed dates.
Core areas can be busy at peak hours. Private guiding lets us use timing, access routes and quieter regions to keep your experience uncrowded.
Most journeys we design give the Serengeti three or more nights, often split between two regions to follow the season.
